Hurst is a commitment
The top-ranked LSU Tigers picked up their 17th commitment of the 2007 season on Saturday night when Arlington High School offensive tackle Alex Hurst committed to play for Les Miles' Tigers.
The 6-6, 312-pound Hurst is a two-star prospect according to the latest Rivals.com rankings but more importantly fills an hole in the Class of 2008 for Miles' staff, joining Clay Spencer and P.J. Lonergan as the other offensive line commits for the LSU class.
"I committed to them after the game," Hurst said. "They actually pulled Coach Miles out of the press conference and when I told Coach Porter that I was going to commit to them and he came (Miles) and gave me a big hug and said he was happy to have me aboard."
Receiving his formal scholarship offer from LSU in early May, Hurst said that the LSU-Florida atmosphere was the final nail for his commitment to drop.
