It's been a month since anyone has heard from Alexandria (Va.) West Potomac offensive tackle Jimmy Bennett. Hokiehaven.com caught up with the 6-foot-8, 270-pounder to find out how his season is going and what's next for his recruitment.
"The season is going well, we're 7-2," he said. "We have one more game against T.C. Williams. I think our team just has to work on our consistency. I think a lot of our players bought into the hype of the rankings and then we lost two games, now everyone has to keep a level head.
"I'm doing alright too. I keep switching around my position, I'm a guard instead of a tackle now and I'm playing middle linebacker instead of defensive end. It's fine with me, I'll do what I can to help the team. I think I'm averaging about two tackles for loss a game."
Recruiting continues to be on hold for Bennett until the season is done.
"As soon as we finish our last game, I'm going to start scheduling some visits before the basketball season gets in full gear," he said. "Of course, it'll depend how far we go in the playoffs too.
"I am still trying to go to Virginia Tech for a visit and I need to get out to Connecticut. Boston College might get a visit as well. I've got to see if my schedule works out. I plan to visit schools I haven't been to yet mostly."
