Guy may expand list with recruitment re-opened
Those assuming Kentucky was a lock for Winston Guy after the Lexington Catholic star officially de-committed from Arkansas may be surprised by his motives for making that decision.
"I really wasn't doing it expecting to make another commitment or anything," Guy said. "I know a lot of people probably thought that meant I was ready to commit to Kentucky, but it really wasn't about that.
"I was a little overwhelmed by the whole recruiting process and it was becoming a distraction. All the questions about whether I was solid with Arkansas without being able to go out there and visit, it just wasn't a comfortable situation. So I decided to go ahead and re-open things and put all of this aside until the season is over. I just want to focus on helping my team win a state championship
I'm not as stressed out as I was before."
Lexington Catholic is one of the top teams in Class 4A as it opens the playoffs this week against West Jessamine. The Knights finished the regular season at 8-2 with Guy playing a key role as a linebacker/safety. His 48 tackles and 10 tackles for loss were both second on the team. He also had six quarterback hurries, four pass break-ups, two sacks and one blocked kick.
