Lewis finishes stellar season
One of the Tide's earliest 2008 commitments, defensive end Brandon Lewis, recently closed the book on a terrific senior campaign as his Pleasant Grove Spartans missed the playoffs.
Despite a 4-6 record this fall for a young Spartans' team, Lewis excelled individually, recording 66 tackles (12 for losses), seven sacks, five batted passes, 16 hurries, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
His action wasn't limited to defense as Lewis chipped in nine carries for 64 yards and six catches for 80 yards and two touchdowns.
"I was pretty happy with the way I played," said Lewis, who runs a 4.7 40-yard dash. "I know it wasn't the best season as a team, but we had a lot of young guys filling key roles. I just went out there and played as hard as I could play."
Lewis has a reputation for being a hard worker in the weight room, bench-pressing over 330 pounds. He is now earning the reputation for putting in equally demanding time in the classroom.
