Tide lands commitment
Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban hosted an impressive list of recruits in Tuscaloosa this weekend and came away with a commitment from one of the nation's top prospects in Brentwood (Tenn.) athlete Chris Jordan.
"I committed to Coach Saban today when I met with him before I left. I decided last night after talking to my parents for over an hour and a half at the hotel. I just knew Alabama was the place for me. Coach Cutcliffe at Tennessee and Coach Napier at Clemson did a great job of recruiting me and I want to thank them but Alabama was where my heart was at," Jordan said. "The thing about Alabama that makes it special is the close bond the players and coaches share. It's like one big family and Alabama is the only place I felt that.
"The school is just a great place overall. I walked around the whole weekend and didn't wear my nametag but all the people were great to me. They knew who I was and that is a special feeling. It just felt like I belonged whether it be with the students, coaches or players."
Jordan said Saban's reaction to his announcement was a pleasantly surprise.
"In all the times I've been around Coach Saban, I've never seen him smile. But today when I told him he had a big smile on his face and that made me feel special. He was very excited and that made me excited," Jordan said. "After I committed he told me that I had made a great choice. We talked about the situation and he told me how he was going to rebuild Alabama football with players like me. That was flattering to hear."
