Ponder no longer content with backup role
Of the 100 or so people - coaches, family members, administrators, staffers and media - in attendance for Monday's press conference, there likely were few happier to hear the news than promising young quarterback Christian Ponder.
After playing under Daryl Dickey and Jeff Bowden for one year and Jimbo Fisher for another, Ponder was not the least bit excited about the recent rumors that Jimbo Fisher might be lured away by another school.
"Three offenses in three years would have been tough," Ponder said. "You saw what happened this year. I was a little worried. It would be tough to lose him. Thank God he's still here."
