One to go for Gooden
Pflugerville (TX) safety Zaviar Gooden always hoped that he would get a chance to play for the state title. This coming Saturday, Gooden and his teammates will get that opportunity after advancing to the state championship game in Texas.
Gooden said that as the team advanced deeper and deeper into the playoffs, the support continued to grow. He said that it had been amazing to see people get behind the team, and if they were victorious, it would even go to another level.
While he has been playing longer than many of the other prospects in the class of 2008, Gooden said that he couldn't totally ignore recruiting. he said that he had been talking with schools about what he could do following the new year before the dead period started this past Monday.
One of the coaches that Gooden has spent quite a bit of time talking with over recruiting has been Missouri's Brian Jones. The two have become good friends and have enjoyed the time getting to know each other. Gooden added that it was a relief that his parents enjoyed metting Jones on his visit to Pflugerville.
Gooden said that he felt fortunate to have to keep putting recruiting off because it meant that he was still playing football. He talked about how he had visits set up and although his original plan was to already have made a decision by now, he did finally know when he would be seeing schools.
A few weeks back, Gooden named Missouri as his favorite in recruiting. With the end of the season nearing and it being a few weeks since the end of the football season, did Gooden still see the Tigers on top?
Now that he has visits set up, Gooden said recruiting will be done soon. He wasn't sure when, but he knew that once he got into the new year, he would not have to wait long to figure out what school was the best for him.
