TCU still in the hunt for Thomas?
These days can become unsettling for most recruits with signing day right around the corner. Some worry on if they will have the chance to play football and others just get down right confused on where they want to go for the next 4-5 years while trying to keep everyone around them happy.
One player who is still lingering on the fence is Texas City athlete Johnny Thomas. The 6-foot, 180-pound speed burner has seen his stock sky-rocket since the end of his senior season and that's one reason he is still uncertain where he'll go for sure, and that's a good thing.
While he maintains that he is still a soft commit to Oklahoma State, Thomas has offers from others such as Ole Miss, TCU, Houston, UCLA, Oregon State, and Arkansas.
"I'm pretty solid to Oklahoma State, or they're atleast the number one team still," he said. "But if I like my visit to Arkansas this week that can change. I'm visiting there this weekend."
The main reason Thomas is exploring his options is the opportunity to play running back and Oklahoma State wants him as a defensive back. However, Thomas prefers to carry the ball at the next level and it's easy to see why after he rushed for over 1,800 yards and was named Galveston County player of the year, All-state 4A, and Greater Houston 2nd team.
"I prefer to play running back," Thomas said. "I think my best trait as a running back is my speed. I think I'm faster than an average running back."
One school that wants his services at running back is TCU, which he visited on the 18th.
"I liked it [visit]," he said. "It was real nice and I like the coaches a lot. Coach Tademy is recruiting me, he's a real good person. I like him because he tells you exactly how everything is up front."
So where do the Frogs rank on his list?
"They're in my top three," he said. "Actually my top three are Oklahoma State, Oregon State, and TCU. If I like Arkansas that could change. I plan on making my decision before signing day."
