Huggins expresses displeasure after debacle
MORGANTOWN--Roughly thirty minutes after the final horn had sounded on his team's abysmal 62-39 loss to Cincinnati, Bob Huggins was not a happy man. His voice rising by the minute, West Virginia's head coach was blunt in his assessment of what went so terribly wrong against the Bearcats: "It looked like grown men against boys out there."
In one of the ugliest offensive performances in the history of the Coliseum, WVU (15-6, 4-4) converted just 10 of 50 field goals against a Cincinnati team that entered the contest ranked in the bottom half of the Big East Conference in scoring defense. Even worse, the Mountaineers made exactly one of their 22 3-point attempts on the evening. Three of those misses didn't even touch the rim.
Huggins' displeasure was considerable, in scope and intensity.
