Does NU have the early edge with Watt?
True to his surname, Chris Watt would add a jolt of electricity to Northwestern's football program should the Wildcats land him. The offensive lineman from Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard West will likely earn a four-star designation from Rivals and he's already one of the most coveted recruits in the Midwest, with 15 scholarship offers.
Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald would like nothing more than to build his Class of 2009 around Watt, but to do that, he and his staff will have to beat out the likes of Ohio State, Notre Dame and a host of other high-profile suitors. That may seem like a tall order, but Northwestern has quite a few advantages in its favor in pursuing the 6-foot-4, 270-pounder.
The most important factor is Chris's older brother Kevin Watt, a redshirt freshman defensive end at NU who would love to see his little brother join him in Evanston.
