Florida athlete holds four offers
Heading into the 2008 season, Lauderhill (Fla.) Plantation was already set to have an extremely talented program with several highly recruited players on the squad. The rich will be getting richer with the transfer of athlete Ronnie Kennedy. The 5-foot-7 147-pounder already holds four offers after transferring to Plantation from Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas.
"I've got offers form Auburn, I just got Troy and South Carolina," Kennedy said. "I have Minnesota also. All of them are written except for Minnesota. Minnesota is a verbal."
Kennedy has played all over the field and excels as a return man. He is being recruited by most programs as an athlete.
"Mostly I'm being recruited as a kick returner and punt returner and probably in the slot," he said. "Auburn has probably been showing the most interest in me. I talk to them a lot. I get a lot of mail from them."
Auburn also sits very high on Kennedy's own list and he talked about what appeals to him about the Tigers.
"I like how they approach you when they offer you," he said. "They came at me and they were pretty real. They said they have a lot of plans for me in the future. They want me to visit as soon as possible. They're trying the hardest."
Kennedy hopes to see the field early in college and will be looking to raise his stock by doing a number of things for his new high school.
"It's assumed that I'm playing both sides of the ball but coach is really debating that because he's expecting a lot from us so he's going to see how we do this Spring and then see how it goes."
Beyond the four schools that have offered him, Kennedy has three schools that he hopes will pick up the interest: Clemson, Virginia Tech and Georgia.
What is it he likes about those three programs?
"Really, I like how they change up their style of play so that they can be more competitive in their conferences."
