Thompson close to a decision?
With the Elite 11 and Nike camps making a pit stop in Ft. Worth Friday and Saturday, it might seem like a likely time to overlook an athlete coming in to visit the Frogs for an official visit. That may hold true for some prospects but that's not the case when the prospect is Wichita Falls (TX) Rider do everything athlete, Jurrell Thompson. He's in town to take in everything that the Frogs have to offer and if all goes well, a commitment could be right around the corner.
"I'm looking forward to tomorrow, TCU is my number one school right now and I want to see what they have to offer."
The dynamic defensive back/running back is very highly regarded and with offers in hand from TCU, Arizona State, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Utah, Tulsa and SMU, it's clear to see that he's on a lot of wish lists across the country. So what is it about TCU that makes them number one?
"A lot of schools are recruiting me as a defensive back but TCU is recruiting me as RB/DB so I can play either place. I like that it's close to home too."
With his visit set up for the weekend, there's no doubt that the talented Texan will find a lot more to his liking while taking his tour. With the Frogs clearly at the top of his list, is a weekend commitment out of the question?
"We'll see, if it goes well I might. I'm mainly looking for a place that I can get a good education, I'm not sure what I'll major in yet but if it goes well, who knows."
PurpleMenace.Com will follow up with Thompson tomorrow evening to see how the visit went. Sometimes, with early recruiting the way it is these days, it's easy to forget that these kids are just juniors. With that in mind, what are Thompson's goals as he winds down his high school career?
"I want a State Championship."
Nothing less, nothing more?
"Yes sir, that's it."
Stay tuned to Rivals.com this weekend to see if this explosive young man pulls the trigger in favor of TCU.
