Green picks up a big offer
There should be no complaints among Ohio State fans about a lack of offers going out to some of the nation's best players. With only a handful of spots left in the class of 2009 the Buckeyes offered another top player recently in Louisville (Ky.) cornerback Justin Green. The Rivals100 member is the younger brother of former Buckeye Marcus Green and is also ranked as a four star prospect.
Many of the nation's top programs were already in on Justin but the Buckeyes made it official only very recently and now the 5-foot-11, 178-pounder has another big offer to think about.
"I was talking to coach (Jim) Heacock (on Monday) and they said they would be sending a letter in the mail," Green said. "So it will probably be here (Tuesday or Wednesday)."
Green was very enthusiastic in talking about his newest offer and why not when the Buckeyes are a team that he is very familiar with.
"I feel great," Green said. "I have been watching the Buckeyes since I have been little when I was cheering my brother on. That offer is really big and it is big for me."
It may be hard to tell who was more excited between Justin and Marcus but the older brother has said that he doesn't want to put any pressure on his brother to follow him up to Columbus.
"Of course he thinks it is great because he is already living up there now and of course he is a big Buckeye being an (alumnus) of course," Green said. "He just thinks it is a great place for me. Even though he went there he still wants me to look at other schools and see what they have too.
But secretly does Justin think that Marcus wants him to end up at Ohio State?
"More than likely (laugh)," Green joked.
With the explosion of offers especially at defensive back does the competition do anything to dissuade Green from seriously considering the Bucks?
"I have looked at who they have brought in and who is on the roster," Green said. "But they are looking at me as an athlete right now so I might play receiver or running back or defensive back. It doesn't faze me because a player is a player and if I am good enough to play there then I am and if not good enough to get a spot then I'm not."
What does the future hold for Green when it comes to a timeline of making a decision?
"I am taking some unofficials coming up pretty soon," Green said. "I am going to Alabama, Ohio State, Miami and Illinois. Those are the only ones I have scheduled now but I am going to more colleges as well."
And when might a final decision be made?
"I probably won't make a decision until later on until I get my official visits out of the way," Green said.
