Fast rising DL up to five offers
One of the fastest rising prospects on the west coast is Newbury Park, Calif., defensive end Jackson Powell (6-5, 230, 4.65). Since the spring evaluation period has rolled around the talented defender has picked up five offers.
Powell now has offers from the likes of Washington, Arizona, San Diego State, Oregon State and most recently Cal.
"Cal just offered Jackson on Friday," Newbury Park offensive coordinator Keith Smith said. "I haven't had the chance to talk with him since he received his offer."
"Arizona is really recruiting him hard at the present moment," Smith said. "The Wildcats think he's a perfect fit for them."
As a junior, Powell earned first-team all-league, all-county and all-CIF honors after accounting for 67 tackles, 13 quarterback hurries, 9.5 sacks and five pass deflections. Not bad production for a player who saw a lot of double teams his junior season.
