Texas WR has Army as one of his favorites
With Army's Junior Day coming up this Sunday, it will be an opportunity for many of the forty plus recruits to meet the coaching staff, see some of the best football facilities in the country, look around one of the most majestic campuses in the land and perhaps become part of the rebuilding that is taking place under Head Coach Stan Brock.
One player who is getting first hand Head Coach recruiting is wide receiver,Chris Omigie. "I was on the phone with Coach Brock when he told me that an offer is in the mail," shares Omigie. "When I spoke to Coach Brock towards the middle of spring football, he told me he wanted me to score a little higher on my SAT's."
Omigie is a "go up and get it" type of receiver, who is very physical and who enjoys knocking down a defender on a block as much as catching a pass. To have Coach Brock personally reach out to the 6-foot-4, 185 pound receiver is surely a testament to Army's level of interest in Omigie.
When did Army reach out to you? "My coaches sent my highlight tape of me from last season to them and all during spring football my position coach made a cut up of every practice I had
like one on one, 7 on 7, blocking drills and he sent that also," confirms Omigie.
In addition to Army's offer, right now the Arlington (TX) Martin prospect has offers from Baylor, Buffalo, Ohio University and Rice
Omigie has spent the spring and summer at the Next Level Athlete Combine and also attended camps Baylor and Rice. Although school ended June 5th for Omigie is getting ready for his senior season by running summer track with a church program and doing summer strength and conditioning at the high school. Martin High School will be looking to improve upon last year's record of 7-4
Omigie's speed is impressive when you consider that he comes in at 6-foot-4, 185 pound. He ran a 4.67 at Next Level Athlete Combine and has 36 inch vertical. During his high school outdoor spring track season, he ran all the relays, LJ, HJ and individual 200M (21.5 best time), where his 4X100 event saw him record a personal best of 10.83 split. In addition to football and track, Omigie is also a member of his school's basketball team.
When will Omigie start visiting schools unofficial and when will he make his college decision? "I'm waiting to the fall to start visiting campuses," says Omigie. "And I'm looking to make my college decision towards the middle of my football season."
Do you have a Top Five right now? "Army is on the top of my list right now, and Baylor is a little bit ahead of them," states Omigie.
