Big QB collects Iowa State offer
Until his team's spring scrimmage last month, Fort Pierce (Fla.) Westwood quarterback Isaac Virgin did not have a lot to show college coaches. The 6-foot-4, 232-pound prospect split time under center as a junior, but will be the man in his senior season and gave a preview to college coaches at Westwood's May 22 scrimmage.
One of those coaches who was interested and came by to check out Virgin was Iowa State quarterbacks coach Tony Peterson.
"He had heard about it and it just so happened that he came into town on that day and he was able to see me perform," Virgin said. "Ever since then they have started to recruit me heavily. I had sent him some film and he showed it to the staff. Our style of offense is kind of like their offense and he said I'd be the perfect fit."
Last week Peterson backed up his words in the form of a scholarship offer to Virgin, the big quarterbacks' first of the recruiting process.
