Jones is a cool customer
National attention has come his way, but it has yet to phase Rivals100 linebacker Jarvis Jones and we don't see that changing. Offers from top ACC and SEC programs are in along with others from schools like Texas and Southern Cal, but Jarvis is still Jarvis.
We caught up with the Carver Head Coach Dell McGee to see what he had to say about his star player and how he was handling the recruiting process.
"He has handled it all with a level head," said Coach McGee. "He is a cool mannered kid, he is very mature for his age, and he has just been taking everything in. He is taking everything slowly, keeping his options open, and I think he will make the right decision and the best decision for Jarvis."
Carver lost their two big leaders off of their 2007 AAA 15-0 State Championship team in Jarmon Fortson (FSU) and DeRon Furr (Auburn), so has the soft spoken Jones stepped up to fill that role this year?
"He has, but he is still more of a leader by example," McGee explained. "We have some other guys that are a little more vocal than he is, but his play does his talking and his efforts on and off the field help him lead by example. He is a model student-athlete, so he is a leader for us."
Starting off at Carver, the 6-foot-3, 226 pound athlete played on the offensive side of the ball. He then was moved over to linebacker as a junior and he stepped right in and made plays.
