Gray rests up before the season
Houston (Texas) Cypress Falls dual-threat quarterback Kolby Gray has been busy all summer. He has been hitting up camps, passing tournaments and taking college visits. With his senior football season rapidly approaching, no one has earned a vacation more than Gray. That is why he is currently regrouping on a cruise before going full speed ahead into the season.
"I've been going to a million camps this summer," Gray said. "I'd say I've been to about eight camps just letting everybody see what I can do. I went to the Vanderbilt camp and they offered and there really hasn't been anything after that."
Gray is up to seven offers and while he is in no rush to decide, he does anticipate narrowing his list in the near future.
"I'm going to narrow it down pretty soon to about three or five," he said. "I'm going to get a good look at them, take some visits, talk to my family and see how that goes. But you never know how soon I'll decide. I think all those schools in our area are great schools. Rice is a great school that's offered me so far and there definitely could be some more people that come along."
Listed as a dual-threat quarterback, Gray has proven this summer that he has a big ability to throw the football. He has performed well in camps as well as settings like the Texas State 7 on 7 Tournament. The more he has performed the more he has shown that he isn't your typical run-first dual-threat quarterback.
"Before I had my junior season, I was always a dual-threat guy but then my junior season I went out and made a bunch of yards and guys were making a lot of plays and scoring touchdowns," he said. "I think I'm a passer first but when it breaks down, I can make some plays."
As a junior, Gray passed for over 3,000 yards and had 32 touchdowns along with 8 touchdowns rushing.
