East Central home to two 2010 standouts
San Antonio has long been one of the most under-recruited cities in the state of Texas. However, the tide is starting to change as several of the city's prospects in the 2009 class are already committed to big-time Division I schools. Colleges are making the city a much more frequent stop and are being rewarded for their efforts.
The talent does not just stop with the rising seniors, however. East Central, a school known more for its past basketball prowess than its gridiron success, is home to two of the state's top juniors. Head coach Robert Walker says colleges have already taken notice of defensive tackle Torrea Peterson and running back Chris Johnson.
"Torrea, he's a really good player," said Walker. "He's going to have a big year here for us. He's up to 6-foot-5, 290 (pounds).
