Miami Central WR commits
Local product Jairus Williams of Miami Central High School has seen his team get off to a rough start going 1-3, but that hasn't stopped college recruiters from calling. Williams recently made a commitment to Mario Cristobal and his FIU football program. When did he make his commitment?
"About a month ago I went on a visit and gave them a verbal commitment," said the 6 foot 5, 190-pound Williams. "I took a toured of the campus and met all the coaches."
What did you like most about the FIU program?
"They have a new program and are mostly freshmen and sophomores. There is also a chance to play early."
Are you still looking at other schools?
"Yes, Kansas State and Central Michigan. Central Michigan has offered, but Kansas State hasn't yet."
Williams creates a match up problem with his height the FIU currently doesn't have right now. Williams is a regular visitor to FIU attending the spring game and FIU's one day camp this summer.
Miami Central takes on Miami Norland next Saturday night.
