Hickey has BC interest
Murrysville (Pa.) Franklin Regional offensive tackle Sean Hickey is still waiting for his first offer to come in, but he is only a junior so there is no reason for concern. The talented lineman from the Class of 2010 is visiting schools and making an early assessment of the recruiting landscape.
The 6-foot-6, 270-pound prospect took an unofficial visit to Notre Dame earlier in the month and he hasn't slowed down just yet. His father spoke with EagleAction.com recently to catch everyone up to speed with what has been going on.
"He was at South Bend and last week he was at Maryland," said Mike Hickey, Sean's father. "That visit went very well, even though the game was bad.
"Next Friday we're going to Pitt for their game against West Virginia, and the next day we're going to Boston College. That will probably be it for the year."
Boston College is a school that has expressed a lot of interest in Hickey thus far. The interest appears to be mutual, at least from where Hickey's father sits.
"Yes, Boston College seems very interested in him. He gets mail from them two or three times a week. I think he's real high on Boston College. He seems to like their program up there. I'm pretty sure they're one of his favorites."
The elder Hickey went on to say Pitt has also been recruiting his son very hard. The Panthers have invited him to two games thus far, and he has spoken with Coach Dave Wannstedt.
"I think (Sean) is pretty open right now. It's so early, I have to think he's pretty open."
A coach from West Virginia made the trip to Franklin Regional to check Hickey out recently, signaling the level of interest the Mountaineers have in him is high.
Franklin Regional lost in the first round of the state playoffs. Hickey's father said his son significantly upgraded his speed and quickness over the course of his junior season.
