Despite loss, McAfee achieves some redemption
PITTSBURGH--After missing two short field goal attempts in last season's devastating 13-9 loss to Pittsburgh, West Virginia University kicker Pat McAfee achieved a measure of redemption by nailing all three of his attempts against the Panthers on Friday. But his team's 19-15 loss prevented the Plum, Pa. native from deriving any joy from his performance.
"It was good to bounce back with the field goals, but I'd rather miss three kicks and get a win than make three kicks and lose," a dejected McAfee said afterward.
McAfee, a senior who grew up just 30 minutes outside of Pittsburgh, now must live with the disappointment of dropping two straight contests to his hometown school to end his career.
