Boyd talks about Army game experience
Josh Boyd was unlike most of the other players at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl this past weekend in San Antonio.
While most players knew months in advance about their inclusion in the game, Boyd did not find out until the day before practice began that he was invited after Ryne Giddins was unable to play after a car ran over his foot.
"It was a good experience," Boyd said of the U.S. Army game. "I didn't know that I was going to get to go until they called me (on Sunday). I talked to my mom and dad and they told me to go so I was on the next flight the next day. When I got down there I really didn't know what was going on because I missed the first practice. But I just showed them what I could do and just played and had fun with it."
The 6-foot-3, 275-pounder saw extensive playing time along the defensive line for the East in their 30-17 win over the West. Boyd recorded four tackles in the game, which was televised nationally on NBC.
