Making the Grade
For over a month, rumors have swirled regarding the academic standing of Baylor commit Rico Forbes, the Bahamian native whose 6-foot-5, 270-pound frame and surprising athleticism for a man his size has had college coaches drooling over the prospect of him coming off the edge for quite some time now, despite limited time on the football field.
According to Forbes, who sat out this season due to age limitations set forth by TAPPS, his grades are in order and he is now simply going through the process of submitting all of his transcripts and other such documents to the NCAA clearinghouse.
"All my grades are right but there's a lot of stuff they're trying to get sorted out because of the foreign situation," Forbes said. "They have to go through some stuff with that so that's what is taken a little while longer."
"Right now I'm just getting all of my stuff into the clearinghouse," Forbes added. "That's almost taken care of. I'll be there some time in June."
Forbes, who actually decommitted from Texas A&M in December to join the Bears, actually already graduated from St. Pius X in Houston, and is working hard in order to be in the best shape possible for the season.
"I graduated in December but I might be taking some AP classes," Forbes said. "You've got to stay in the books. I just want to be in the best shape possible for when I get up there so I can be ready to do whatever they ask of me."
