Dieffenbach hoping for more offers
Pittsburgh (Pa.) Fox Chapel Area offensive tackle Miles Dieffenbach is sitting in a pretty good position right now to say the least. The 6-foot-5, 285-pound lineman is a member of the Rivals250 to Watch for his class and already holds an offer from the school in his home city. All that said, he's hoping more offers come in very soon.
Dieffenbach recently took a couple of unofficial visits to a pair of schools that happen to be rivals. Neither has offered yet but both have shown him a lot of attention, and that gives him hope.
"I just got back from a trip to BC last weekend," he explained. "It went very well. I went up there and walked around the campus and then we watched a basketball game at night. We spent some time in the city of Boston, which I love, so it was definitely a good time. I met the coaches and had a chance to ask the players some questions. All in all it was a great experience.
"The weekend before that I was at Notre Dame, which was also very good. I especially wanted to meet their new offensive line coach, (Frank) Verducci. I was really impressed by him. It was great to see that campus because it's just beautiful. At the basketball game you could really see how much their fans love their sports."
Judging by recent history it would seem as though Dieffenbach is taking an aggressive, proactive approach to the recruiting process. He might be done for a little while, though.
"I really can't say I have too many other plans," he said. "Those were the main trips I was planning on taking. I'm going to Pitt's Junior Day coming up but that's just right around the corner so it's not really a trip. If anything comes up with a school I like a lot then I'll be open to doing it."
The coaches from Northwestern took a trip to Fox Chapel Area recently and made it known taht they would probably be offering Dieffenbach soon.
Where does everyone else stand?
"With Notre Dame, coach (Ron) Powlus said coach Verducci liked my film a lot. They just want a little more game tape.
"Maryland is very close to offering. They definitely want me to go down to their camp this summer. Boston College does also. I think they're still hiring an offensive line coach, so I'm going to send them more of my film."
