Elite and wanting more
GLENDALE, AZ - Does Cinderella wear black and old gold this year?
After Missouri's 102-91 victory over Memphis Friday, many are asking the question. Unless you're Missouri coach Mike Anderson.
"You can call it whatever you want," Anderson said. "We're just a good basketball team."
Sure, he knows now that his team is good, but Elite Eight good? If you told him back in November that his team would be playing for a Final Four bid, Anderson would have thought you were crazy. Or drunk.
"I'd be saying what are you smoking and drinking, man? But you know what, in order to have something, you got to be able to see it," Anderson said. "Every year I think most teams prepare for [this]. And so this team here, hopefully it will continue with their dreams. They would be dreaming but I'm hoping to keep them dreaming."
Before Friday's Sweet 16 tilt, Anderson said his team needed to match Memphis' intensity and stay in the ballpark on the boards.
His Tigers did that and more, scrapping and clawing their way to the West regional final.
