Making a move with Hunter
Cary (NC) DE Fre'Shad Hunter is one of the Southeast's best defensive line prospects, and a host of schools have taken notice of his talents. Line coach ,b>Brad Lawing of South Carolina is one of many after the talented lineman.
The 6'5, 240-plus pound end prospect picked up a new offer recently.
"Michigan is the latest school to offer me," he said. "I'm up to about ten offers now and it's pretty exciting getting all of these offers."
The Cary High product has been on some in-state trips and came away impressed with one in particular.
"NC State," he said. "It stood out because of the coaches and the facilities."
A group of college coaches have been by Cary recently to check up on the coveted prospect.
"Coach Reaves from Tennessee came to see me," he said. "I also had a coach from LSU come and see me and he wants me to make a visit this summer."
Some more visits are on deck this summer for the talented trenchman.
"Florida and Florida State are going to be get visits for sure," he said. "It will be nice vacation, you know?"
When asked about South Carolina, Hunter had this to say:
"Coach Lawing from South Carolina came last week and I know he wants me to visit. He couldn't talk to me because I'm a junior but I like him as a coach and I'm a player he wants."
Will Hunter take the veteran line coach up on his offer?
"South Carolina is going to get a visit," he said. "I'm going to go down to Columbia to see what they have to offer and then go from there."
The Tarheel native has an idea of what he is looking for in a school.
"The number one thing is coaching staff," he said. "Then facilities and of course playing time is important. I'm going to make my decision my last game of my senior season."
Finally, Hunter revealed his top five schools to GamecockCentral.com.
"NC State, Florida State, LSU, Tennessee, and South Carolina are all going to be in my top five," he said.
Chris' Take: South Carolina has a chance at this lineman; he should take a visit this summer either for camp or an unofficial and the Gamecocks will have their shot to impress him. NC State should be considered strong here as they are the in-state schools and have made a big impression on Hunter.
