Lewis lands offer from MSU camp
Jonesboro, La., athlete RobDonovan Lewis has never played cornerback before this summer.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder had been used at wide receiver and safety in high school but has been working at corner during three summer camps. His work at Mississippi State's camp last week was good enough to land him his first Southeastern Conference offer.
"I feel pretty good about Mississippi State," Lewis said. "Their coaches are real nice when I was there. I came up there and got to work out for them. When I was leaving they called me and offered me a scholarship. I was real excited about that."
Lewis got a chance to meet the Bulldogs new staff for the first time at the camp including head coach Dan Mullen.
"I thought their camp was great," Lewis said. "I got a chance to talk to all the coaches and the head coach. He's a real nice guy and real friendly. It seems like a staff I could see myself playing for."
Growing up in the Bayou State, Lewis admitted that he does not know that much about State. But he plans on making a return visit to Starkville in the fall to spend more time on campus.
