Scruggs stock skyrocketing..ND

Every years a few players seem to come out of nowhere and skyrocket up the recruiting rankings. Often that player comes from an obscure school off the beaten path, but not this year. This year the fastest rising prospect in Ohio for the class of 2008 comes from the #1 ranked football team in Ohio, Greg Scruggs of Cincinnati St Xavier High School.

So how does a player form a program like St. Xavier stay under the radar? It is simple; Scruggs did not play football prior to this year. The past few years he actually was a drummer for the St Xavier band. It was only after the goading of his current teammates, and the thought that maybe he could get a scholarship, that he threw on the football pads.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Scruggs has seen his list of scholarship offers explode as the season has unfolded. The Miami Redhawks were the first to offer him after his first game. Since that time 10 other teams have thrown their hat in the ring for his service including Michigan State, Michigan and Tennessee.
