Rebels hoping Cooper makes official visit
Lithonia, Ga., outside linebacker Cedrick Cooper has an official visit scheduled to Ole Miss on Jan. 28.
However, Cooper said Monday night he's not sure he'll need to take it. While that's "not necessarily" bad news for the Rebels, Cooper said, Ole Miss has to be hoping he doesn't pull the trigger on a commitment following this weekend's official visit to South Carolina.
"I think I'm going to make my decision after South Carolina," Cooper said. "It's down to Arkansas, N.C. State, South Carolina and possibly Ole Miss.
"Things are starting to narrow. I'm talking it out with my mom and my coach. I spoke to the coaches and all that stuff."
Cooper, a three-star prospect who visited Arkansas in October, has visited North Carolina and North Carolina State on consecutive weeks this month.
"N.C. State was great," Cooper said. "I had a wonderful time.
Arkansas was a little bit better. With the coaches and the players, I had a wonderful time. The players and everyone at N.C. State were great, too."
South Carolina has been in the mix for Cooper throughout the fall, and the Gamecocks have seemed to pick up late momentum in the race for the 6-foot-2, 205-pounder's signature.
"I already know the team is great, the coaches are great," Cooper said. "I want to see how the surroundings are. I want to see about the hands-on academic help and those things are. I want to see how I'm going to adapt to my surroundings."
Cooper said he'll decide whether he wants to and/or needs to take the official visit to Ole Miss after he returns from Columbia. Cooper is ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 57 outside linebacker in the country.
