All about test scores
When it comes to defense it all starts up front in the trenches and the Syracuse Orange have made it a priority to recruit hard on the defensive line. One prospect who could end up on the Orange defensive line is Jahmil Haley.
Haley, 6-foot-3, 270 pounds visited the Orange for a football camp in the summer and he came away very impressed with the coaches and team.
"It is a good school for football and academically as well. I have seen them play and they look like they are on the rise to something good."
There are two coaches looking at the Virginia product and he feels he has a great relationship with both.
"I talk with Coach Jimmy Brumbaugh and Tim Daoust. The relationship with Coach Brumbaugh is really good because he is the one coach who really put me out there at the camp for the Head Coach to see. Coach Daoust is good a good guy as well."
For Haley he has had great thoughts of Syracuse since his visit, but there is one item that he thinks about more than others when it comes to the Orange.
"When I think of Syracuse the first thing I think of is college history and Jim Brown, just all of the history is what I think about."
If he were to end up wearing Orange he is versatile enough to take care of any need Syracuse has at the time.
"They told me they want to move me around from nose tackle to the three technique. I can also play defensive end."
On Rivals.com the defensive tackle prospect is listed as having an Orange offer, but it is not official yet. The Syracuse coaches have told Haley he has some work to do before it is official.
"They said that they were going to wait for my SAT scores and they said once I get everything right with that an offer will come in."
If his test scores do improve and the Orange offer is set in stone what does that mean for him?
"Most likely I will commit to Syracuse because they were the first division one college to really give me a look. I like the coaches up there, so I believe I would commit. I am from New York anyways so it would be nice to be back in the same kind of environment."
Before he moved to Virginia he was going to attend Holy Cross for high school and he also already knows a couple of the newest members of the Orange.
"When I was growing up I actually played football with Terrell Hunt in Pop Warner. I also know Rob Welsh."
As of right now Haley is waiting to receive his SAT test scores.
