Smith ready to move back to Iowa City
After initially starting classes at Iowa in January, linebacker Julian Smith was ruled ineligible this semester by the NCAA Clearinghouse and had to leave campus. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Smith is eligible to begin classes this fall, however, and is ready to move back to Iowa City. Smith tells HawkeyeReport.com about his semester away from school, his goals for his freshman year, and much more.
Q: When do you move to Iowa City?
SMITH: I'm going out sometime in June, probably around June 5th or June 6th.
Q: What do you look forward to in getting back on campus?
SMITH: I'm just looking forward to getting back and working out with the team. I'm looking forward to playing this year hopefully.
Q: Will it be different from when you were on campus earlier this year?
SMITH: It's going to be a little different because football's already really started with them working out and training. I'm going to have to be ready, but I already know everybody there, so that will help.
Q: What are your goals for your freshman year?
SMITH: I'm trying to get into the rotation, so that's really what I'm looking forward to as a freshman. I'm going to try my best to start, but if I don't, I'll try to at least get into the rotation.
