Taylor: 'Everything felt right at ASU'
Just about a week ago ASUDevils.com spoke with Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton star Kerry Taylor, arguably the top wide receiver prospect in the state, about his timetable for a decision. After informing us that it would likely take official visits before coming to a conclusion, Taylor reversed course while at a USC football camp, and decided to pledge the hometown Sun Devils. We spoke with him about the decision.
"Basically I was at the USC camp and I realized I just liked ASU a lot more and when I realized that I knew it was time to commit," Taylor said.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder was still in the Los Angeles area when he made the decision after talking about it with family members.
"I kind of talked to my parents a little bit," he said. "They just told me it's up to me, it's my decision. So that's where I just knew I wanted to go there. My dad said your heart will only tell you where you want to go and you'll know when the time is right. And I just felt like the time was right for me to go to ASU.
"At first I talked to coach (Dirk) Koetter. He was very excited, he was at a friend's birthday party and he just said that made his day and he was very excited about me coming and can't wait to get things going. I talked to coach (John) Wrenn too and he was very happy that I get to spend four more years with him. I talked to coach (Darryl) Jackson and he was very excited too. He was about to go on vacation and he said that was going to make his vacation even better."
