Avoiding Fiesta replay means bottling Ball
Charlie Weis didn't say it. He didn't even want to touch it.
But there's no getting around Georgia Tech quarterback Reggie Ball and his on-again, off-again performances that leave many around Atlanta buzzing in frustration. Ball arrived at Georgia Tech and won the starting job before the end of his first fall camp, but he's yet to make the leap from wide-eyed freshman to reliable senior.
In 36 career starts, Ball has connected on less than half his passes 11 times. His completion percentage has dropped every year on campus and he's never thrown for more touchdowns than interceptions in a season. Just once has Ball passed for 300 yards in a game, a 27-21 win over North Carolina last season.
