Collier comes back to Pittsburgh
A big part of recruiting is working to get prospects on campus, either for unofficial visits, camps, or official visits. Since taking over at Pitt, Dave Wannstedt has maintained that he and his staff have a shot at any recruit they can get to visit Pittsburgh. As such, getting recruits to visit is a primary focus.
But sometimes the coaches are fortunate enough to have a recruit visit without any provocation whatsoever. That's the case with Churchville (NY) Churchville-Chili athlete Averin Collier, who came to the Steel City this week, unbeknownst to Pitt running backs coach Dave Walker.
Of course, Collier has a unique reason to visit Pittsburgh: his older brother, Kevin, is a sophomore running back for the Panthers.
Collier previously told a Rivals reporter that he had a top five of Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, Clemson, and Central Florida, but he told the Pantherlair that he had not narrowed down his list of 16 offers.
