Recruit spotlight on Roscoe Smith
The nature of recruiting these days is that sophomores are actively being pursued, and in fact, a number of them have already committed to colleges in the past few months.
Ohio State, for example, has three verbals, from what are considered to be among the top 15 sophomores in the nation. It's become increasingly important to spot talent early, as the competition from colleges to land these talented prospects becomes more heated.
It makes even more sense in Maryland's case, as 2008 recruiting is pretty much completed (once the Ater Majok situation is resolved), and 2009 appears to be a year in which few, if any, scholarships will be available.
