Hoops: Top 100 big man plans U-M visit
Finding skilled big men over 6-9 is the goal of just about every college basketball coach in the game. Landing a kid who can not only play in the paint, but also step out and knock down the jumper, though, is more like a coach's dream - especially Michigan head coach John Beilein's.
Arden (N.C.) Christ School's Mason Plumlee, a 6-11, 200-pound four-star prospect (Rivals.com's No. 67 player overall in his class) whose family hails from Indiana, falls into that category, now being pursued by programs such as U-M, Indiana, North Carolina, Stanford and several others after an outstanding summer with Blessed IJN AAU. Good basketball in his genes - older brother Miles, with whom he played last year at Christ School, is an '08 commitment to Stanford, while his younger brother is a freshman at his school - and he's only getting better as he continues to grow.
Michigan head coach John Beilein made an impression on the Plumlees while he was at West Virginia.
