Avery takes a short visit to Georgia
Xavier Avery had a visit to Georgia set for this weekend for a while, but was unsure if he would make it or not due to another commitment. He did make it to Athens, but only spent about 24 hours on campus.
"I got there Friday night and then I left Saturday night after the basketball game," said Avery. "We went over to Coach Richt's house for a little snack and we hung out for a while there Friday night."
"On Saturday, we got to see more of the campus, see the dorm rooms, see how the people were and meet some of the players. Everything was real nice and I have a very good time over there."
Avery is a two-sport star at Cedar Grove High School and his host was a football player that plans to play both football and baseball at Georgia.
"Israel Troupe was my host and he was a cool guy. He had a lot of positive things to say about Georgia to me and he told me that playing both sports at Georgia could be done. He said he was doing it and that I could too."
Playing two sports is one thing he talked to his recruiting coach about while in Athens.
