NJ offensive tackle pulls in Army offer
When fans of New Jersey high school football think about Immaculata High School Somerville (NJ), one player that comes to mind immediately is running back and Notre Dame commit (2009), Theo Riddick. The four star running back has offers from all over, but like any productive back, in order to run effectively, you need holes to run through. One of the mainstays in opening those holes for Immaculata's offensive line is right tackle Cody Bohler.
GoBlackKnights.com caught up with the New Jersey prospect to discuss his recruiting status and right off the bat, Bohler was excited to announce two offers he just received. "Recruiting is going along pretty well," says the elated offensive lineman. "I just got offers from Army and Temple."
In addition to Army and Temple, Bohler is also hearing from schools such as Virginia, Miami, FSU, UConn, Rutgers, South Florida West Virginia and Michigan State. Although Rutgers showed some initial interest in Bohler, it appears that the Scarlet Knights have slowed their recruiting down for the offensive tackle. "I haven't heard from Rutgers in awhile now," says Bohler.
What are Bohler's thoughts on some of the programs that are recruiting him? "Army's coaches visited my school and we sat down for about 45 minutes and talked about what Army could offer on the football and academic wise," shares Bohler. "They indicated how they wanted me there and a week or so later there was my offer in the mail. I have not visited the Army campus yet and I missed their Junior Day, but I'm looking to go visit and it's definitely an honor to be offer by them (Army). I mean West Point is an honor in itself."
Is Notre Dame showing interest? "I would love to hear from Notre Dame
it's like a religion," declares Bohler.
Bohler also mentioned Virginia and stated
"Recently I am very interested in the University of Virginia and I actually just got back from a visit from Virginia," confirms Bohler. "I was with the coaches for about 6 hours and they are talking about an offer a little bit and I'm going to Temple for their camp and I'm not sure about the rest of my summer."
During the spring and summer, Bohler has started to make his rounds at various camps and combines, but he is also trying to finalize his summer itinerary. His first stop was The Big Football Showcase held at Rutgers, followed by the Nike Combine at Penn State. "I think I did pretty well and held up well against the other guys," says Bohler. "I think I was the tallest (6-foot-7 1\2, 295 pounds) there and some guys had weight on me, but I held my own and folks were happy with my technique." .
Along with the various combines, Bohler is participating in speed and strength, as well as lifting every day, where he does speed work three days a week and works out with Billy Ard (former NY Giant). In addition, the offensive lineman works out at Test Sports Club up in Martinville (NJ).
Immaculata went 11-1 last season and lost in the state championship to Holy Spirit. "This year we look good," says Bohler. "We have 3 starters returning, but a lot of young talent and size and I think we are going to be great."
GoBlackKnights.com will continue to stay in touch with Bohler throughout his recruiting process!
