Royer's stock is soaring
Manheim (Pa.) Central defensive end Dakota Royer will have a strong case for being considered one of the top prospects in Pennsylania when his senior season rolls around.
That's partly due to his exceptional production during his sophomore and junior campaigns, when he combined to total 63 tackles for loss and 25 sacks. It will also be a result of the impressive offer sheet he is putting together.
Royer just recently announced that he had picked up offers from Wisconsin and Nebraska, and now more schools are jumping into the mix.
"I actually just got three more," Royer said on Monday. "They were from Virginia, Purdue and Michigan. That brings me up to 17 right now. I've talked to some of the coaches but I have to get ahold of some of the others."
Royer's father, Eric, has been heavily involved in the recruiting process, helping his son to sort through things and organize a schedule.
"I believe we're going to be going to Virginia on March 21," he said. "It won't be this weekend because he's taking his SAT. We're going to hit Notre Dame, Illinois and Michigan State from April 16-18. I'm really not sure when his spring break is.
"We're also going to go to Penn State on March 27, and we're going to hit Pittsburgh and West Virginia. We have a cabin in the western part of Pennsylvania that's only an hour and a half from both of those schools, so we'll be able to do that."
While Royer still has no favorite he has made it clear that he would like to start narrowing things down before too long.
