Poly RB back at full speed
When you play and make an impact for Long Beach (Calif.) Poly as a sophomore, it's a pretty indication that you're a pretty good football player and that's exactly what running back Cory Westbrook (5-10, 195, 4.5) is, a good solid football player.
As a sophomore, Westbrook rushed for 568 yards, and four touchdowns while averaging 8.2 yards per carry for a CIF Champion. His performance earned him second-team all-league honors.
Much was expected out of out of Westbrook his junior season, but he tore his meniscus before the season and ended not getting the carries when he returned.
Westbrook didn't sulk or hang his head when he returned midway through his junior season. He went to practice and did whatever the coaches wanted of him. He played on special teams and played some fullback to make use of his blocking skills.
Westbrook is getting mail from schools such as LSU, Tennessee, Arizona State, Oregon, UCLA, USC, Washington and San Diego State.
