Barker picks up eighth offer

Cambridge (Mass.) Buckingham Browne & Nichols tight end Blake Barker has quickly become one of the top prospects in the Northeast for the Class of 2010 and his offer list bears that out.

The 6-foot-6, 230-pound lineman recently picked up an offer from Rutgers -- his eighth thus far.

"I just got an offer from Rutgers," Barker said on Tuesday. "I had been getting a lot of mail from them but it was a big surprise. I didn't expect it.

"I really don't know a lot about them yet, but I want to know more. I don't have any favorites so I'll be looking at them."

Barker plans on being pretty busy for the foreseeable future.

"I'll be down in Florida soon on a family vacation," he said. "I was talking to coach (Brian) White and he wants me to stop down there for an unofficial visit. I'm probably going to do that.

"Other than that, I might stop at Penn State for a spring game and I might be going to Boston College again soon."
