Interest picking up for PA back
Mike Farrell
Rivals.com Football Recruiting Some prospects don't see the recruiting process pick up until the summer just before their senior season.
That seems to be what's happening with Harrisburg, Pennsylvania running back Jawon Chisholm.
The 6-foot, 195-pound back has a solid build and has run the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds. As a junior last fall at Harrisburg he carried the ball 113 times for 1,061 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also showed a nice ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, snagging nine passes for 107 yards and another score.
"I just went up to the Temple camp," he recalled in a recent interview. "I'm really on their hot list. I think they're going to offer me, if not this summer then probably by my first or second game. More than likely they're going to offer me."
Temple isn't the only school that's interested in the versatile running back. He'll have the opportunity to impress a school from the Big East next week.
"Right now I'm supposed to go to Pitt on June 12. I've just been talking to coach (Brian) Angelichio. As a matter of fact, I was just e-mailing him last night. He was telling me he can't wait for me to come up there.
"I've got a lot of schools looking at me."
Coaches from Penn State, Pitt, Illinois, Iowa, UConn, Maryland, Buffalo and Temple made the trip to Harrisburg in the spring to get a glimpse of Chisholm.
