BOISE, Idaho - Boise State redshirt junior quarterback Kellen Moore received his first All-America honor of 2010, Saturday (Dec. 11), as one of 25 players recognized on the 67th Football Writers Association of America All-America Team.
The FWAA All-America team recognizes 11 players on both offense and defense, as well as three players on special teams. Moore received the nod at quarterback following an outstanding season that has culminated with several nominations for national awards. Moore was one of three finalists for both the Davey O'Brien Award and Maxwell Award, while also being named one of four finalists for the Heisman Trophy.
All of Moore's individual recognition this season has come on the heels of another incredible year leading the Boise State offense. His consistent play helped guide the No. 11 Broncos to an 11-1 overall record; including a 7-1 record against Western Athletic Conference opponents that helped them secure a share of the WAC Championship.
Moore, a Prosser, Wash. (Prosser HS) native, concluded the regular season as one of the top quarterbacks in the country. He currently ranks second nationally in pass efficiency rating (185.0), trailing only Cam Newton (188.16) of Auburn. Moore is also third in completion percentage (71.01), fourth in touchdown passes (33) and interception to attempt ratio (0.0145; 5 of 345), seventh in passing yards per game (292.17) and eighth in total passing yards (3,506).
All of Moore's success during the regular season has led to a record setting year in which he broke several career marks at Boise State. Moore is already the school's all-time leader in career passing yards (10,528), pass completions (803), touchdown passes (97) and 200-yard passing games (33). He also finished the regular season tied for first in career pass attempts (1,181).
The FWAA selection is the fifth All-America honor in Moore's career. Following his sophomore campaign he was voted first-team All-America by ESPN.com, SI.com and CBSSports.com. Moore also received third team All-America honors from the Associated Press last season.
Moore is currently in New York, N.Y. to attend the Heisman Trophy presentation ceremony, Saturday (Dec. 11) night, at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square. The Heisman Trophy announcement will air live on ESPN at 6 p.m. (MST).
As a team, No. 10 Boise State has its sights set on a Dec. 22 (Wednesday) match up against No. 19 Utah in the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas XIX. The game, which will air on ESPN, is scheduled for 6 p.m. (MST).
