It is not very often when you can find a player that has been first team sll-state at two different positions but Cody Wells is a player with that kind of talent. He was an all-state selection at safety as a sophomore when he recorded 100 tackles and nine interceptions. As a junior he was all-state at running back after rushing for 1,205 yards. He plays in Florida's 4A class. These kind of numbers have garnered written offers from Florida State, South Carolina and Central Florida. According to his father Ron, many more will probably come in the future.
"Florida and Miami have said that they will probably offer in the future. So have many other schools."
As for the schools Cody likes his father says he is pretty open right now but he definitely has interest in all of the Florida schools, plus South Carolina, Virginia, and Colorado. Colorado is the only schools he likes out west.
"We are originally from Oklahoma so he is familiar with tha area around there and likes it. He likes snowboarding and those kinds of sports. Colorado contacted us in the first contact period but we haven't heard from them in the second one."
Colorado does still send mail.
So far this year he leads his county in tackles with 58 on the season. 38 of them have been solo. For his game tonight though Cody will be swtiching back to running back due to others being injured.
All schools are recruiting Cody at safety. His brother is a redshirt sophomore at Michigan but he has no interest in the Wolverines.
Wells carries a 4.0 GPA and he has already scored a 20 on his ACT but will take it again. He has no official visits set at this point but his father says they have taken many unofficial visits and they will probably take another one to South Carolina soon.
