Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin safety Charlton Sinclair is the younger brother of current South Carolina Gamecock rising redshirt freshman Gerrod Sinclair. There have been conflicting reports as to whether the younger Sinclair has an offer from South Carolina, something he cleared up in this interview.
"South Carolina hasn't offered me yet," the 6-foot, 190-pound Sinclair said. "My offers are from Florida, North Carolina and Ole Miss. I still like South Carolina a lot and Georgia, Florida State, and NC State."
Sinclair, who racked up 135 tackles, 14 sacks and two interceptions as a junior, attended the Gamecocks' spring game and enjoyed the experience.
"The crowd at the game really showed their love to the players, and it was a pretty big crowd when you look at how the weather was. Their players also treat me right every time I go up there, and I like that. They talked to me a little bit about which position they're recruiting me for, but we really didn't discuss how close they might be to offering me."
Sinclair, who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds, also traveled to Gainesville for the Florida spring scrimmage.
"I love Florida," he said. "I've pulled for Florida all my life, and I just like everything about them, really. I also have some friends there, and I get along good with them. And, plus, the campus is really nice."
Sinclair, who claims a 36-inch vertical leap, is looking forward to learning about the other two schools to have offered him.
"I know North Carolina is a good school, and I'm going to take a visit up there this summer," he said. "Ole Miss just hired a new offensive coordinator, and he called up to the school about four weeks ago to talk. He was just saying how they needed a guy like me down there."
Sinclair could make a decision relatively soon.
"I'm really going to look at things after my spring jamboree. I could commit sometime early in the summer, or I could wait it out a little. Florida is on top and South Carolina is second, but I have a lot of love for both of them. They are way ahead of the others."
