Talk about it in The Main Board
Fortunately, for the Bulldogs they appear to be better prepared to withstand the loss than they might otherwise have.
Richt could not immediately be reached for comment.
Without Boling the Bulldogs appear to have several options to replace the player who was slated to open the season for
Georgia at left guard.
Two scenarios would seem more likely at this early stage.
One would be to have true freshman
Ben Jones open at center with Chris Davis sliding back to the position where he started all 13 games for the Bulldogs last fall.
Another would have the versatile
Vince Vance take over at left guard until Boling's return, or perhaps flip right guard
Justin Anderson over to the left side and allow Vance to play right.
Boling was a member of the Freshman All-America Second Team according to Rivals.com.
The Alpharetta native made his first career start at right tackle for
Georgia against Western Carolina, but started at right guard in the Bulldogs' final 10 games.
Boling, who missed the latter half of spring practice with mononucleosis, was slated to open the season at left guard.
