Jamie Newberg's Friday Night Lights Hot 11 (Class of 2009)
Jon Bostic (Wellington, Fla.) LB
Bostic is a versatile linebacker who looks like he could play inside or out. He has good speed and is really put together well. Bostic looked pretty comfortable in coverage drills.
Jheranie Boyd (Gastonie, N.C.) WR
Boyd looks like he has the total package with good size (6-2, 185) and very good hands. Boyd can be physical as well, so he can really beat a defender in many ways. The best part of his game is his speed. This spring he ran 10.45 in the 100 meters.
Gary Brown (Quincy, Fla.) DT
Gary Brown was the best of the big men on either side of the ball. He clearly showed good athleticism and quickness. Brown has a quick first step and looks strong.
Dwayne Difton (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) WR
Difton may have been the most consistent receiver of the night in terms of getting open and catching the ball. He runs good routes and shows excellent quickness. He lacks great size and great speed, but he has everything else.
Dre Kirkpatrick (Gadsden, Ala.) CB
Kirkpatrick is a taller cornerback with long arms. He is physical at the line of scrimmage in press coverage. He runs well, looks smooth in his backpedal and breaks on the ball quickly. Kirkpatrick looks like he could also grow into a safety at some point.
Jonotthan Harrison (Groveland, Fla.) OL
Harrision was the most consistent of the offensive line prospects at Friday Night Lights. He certainly passes the eyeball test and looks the part. Harrison showed pretty good feet and has long arms.
Donnie Jennert (St. Cloud, Fla.) WR
In this type of setting, there are always big surprises and Jennert was one of those. He was outstanding all night long and had a few big time, acrobatic catches. Jennert's size caused major matchup problems with everyone he went against. Surprisingly, he runs well for a taller wideout. This kid can play.
Morgan Newton (Carmel, In.) QB
The first thing that jumps out at you in watching Newton is his size (6-4, 205). He is big and showed a very lively, strong arm. Newton threw pretty well but at the same time needs to work on throwing with better touch. He also shows pretty good mobility.
Nu'Keese Richardson (Pahokee, Fla.) WR
Richardson was easily one of the fastest prospects there. This kid can really motor and he has quickness as well. Although he's small (5-9, 151) he can really get up in the air, where he shows no fear. He caught the ball well.
Trent Richardson (Pensacola, Fla.) RB
Richardson is well put together and looks very powerful and strong, especially in the upper body. He runs well and was surprisingly quick and not stiff for his size. Richardson also caught the ball well.
Rodney Scott (Cross City, Fla.) RB
Scott is not as big as Richardson but nonetheless was still impressive. He certainly looks bigger than 5-9 and 185 pounds. Scott is fluid and ran with excellent balance in the drills. Like Richardson, he caught the ball well.
Jamie Newberg's Friday Night Lights Hot 11 (Class of 2010)
Trey Burton (Venice, Fla.) QB
Burton has only started one season at quarterback and he continues to get better with each throw. He threw well in the Swamp and shows a lively arm. The strong suit of his game is his running ability, and no one got to see that on Friday night.
Tyrone Cornelius (Stone Mountain, Ga.) LB
Cornelius is a linebacker with tremendous athleticism. He has very good speed and will one day grow into his rangy frame. Once he puts it all together there is no telling how good he could become.
Chris Dunkley (Royal Palm Beach, Fla.) WR
Dunkley is a smaller wide receiver who possesses very good ball skills. He runs well, has very good quickness and consistent hands. This kid is an explosive wide receiver.
Tavadis Glenn (Jacksonville, Fla.) OL/DL
Glenn plays defensive tackle and offensive guard at Terry Parker High but projects best at offensive tackle in college. If he adds weight and commits himself to the position there is no telling how bright his future could be.
Jeffrey Godfrey (Miami Central) QB
Godfrey is a smaller quarterback (5-11, 170) and would be considered a dual-threat signal caller because of his tremendous athleticism. He could also be a very good wide receiver prospect.
Jose Jose (Miami, Fla.) OL
Jose is a little heavier than he wants to be and is still playing at a very high level. He battles with consistency. When he's on, Jose is a terrific run blocker. For a 340 pounder, he has wonderful athletic ability and feet.
Cassius McDowell (Deerfield Beach, Fla.) RB
McDowell is a smaller back (5-9, 165) who has terrific speed and quickness. He is a big play waiting to happen.
Ricardo Miller (Orlando, Fla.) WR
Miler has blazing speed and very good size. He comes out of his breaks at lightning speed and looks like a great deep threat. He has offers already and carries a 3.7 GPA.
Leon Orr (Gulf, Fla.) OL
Orr (6-4,292) is a massive offensive tackle prospect. He's a prototype with long arms and very good feet. Orr will be one of the top tackle prospects from the Sunshine State next season.
Ian Silberman (Fleming Island, Fla.) OL
This is an OL prospect who is only getting bigger and stronger. In fact, he has put on 30 pounds since last season and is now 6-5 and 257 pounds. And he's only 15 years old.
Brian Vogler (Columbus, Ga.) TE
Vogler is a pretty athletic tight end prospect who has great size (6-7, 240) and good speed. This kid has soft hands and has a chance to really develop into a super player.
