The battle between the nation's No. 1 and No. 9 teams lived up to the hype. Haunted by a 24-14 loss to No. 1 Euless Trinity earlier this season, the No. 9 Allen Eagles came out swinging Saturday night at Texas Stadium in the Class 5A, Div. I Regional quarterfinal. The Eagles jumped out to 17-0 lead and held off a late Trojans' charge to get a measure of redemption with a 34-21 win. Allen now heads to the state semifinals against Stoney Point next week.
"The coaches got us so ready for this game. They told us that the last time we played them (Euless Trinity), they overpowered us – so we had to come out and prove we could play with them. Everyone said that we were going to lose because of Matt Brown's injury."
"But we put all of our faith in Tucker (Carter), our defense stepped up and we played hard. I love this team to death – I've never been on a team like this before and it's great."
"This victory means a lot to us. Last year we lost in the first round of the playoffs and we just want to have a chance to win a state title. The last game with Trinity was a big consideration for the team because they beat us at home. In the long run, that earlier loss didn't mean that much. But, this win is huge because we're trying to get to state."
"This victory also helps us going forward because it shows that we can play with anybody and gets us closer to what we all want to be – state champions.

"We got a great effort out of everyone tonight and this is the biggest win I've ever been associated with – I'm just proud to be a part of this team. Ever since we lost that first game to them (Euless Trinity), we've wanted another shot and we came out and made the most of it."
"The coaches believe in us and we believe a little more in ourselves now. This is a huge win, but we've still got a lot of work to do in practice this week to keep going forward to our ultimate goal."
