Dual-sport sophomore one of the best in Texas
This spring, coaches who stopped by Sugar Land (TX) Dulles, just outside the Houston city limits, could possibly have not noticed the 6-foot-1, 185-pound sophomore safety that was usually found standing on the sidelines. Though he stands out physically, Sheroid Evans did not go through most of spring drills with the Viking squad.
He had a very good reason, though. With the swine flu outbreak pushing the track season into late May and early June, Evans was held out of most drills on the gridiron this spring. He is not simply a football player running track. In fact, he recently won both the 200 meter and 400 meter dashes at the Region 3 track meet. Because of that, the coaches did not want to hinder his chances of bringing home a state title to the school.
